Sit + Store – Development and Reveal

CrossFrame

A modular, simple to construct piece of furniture, ideal for the work + office environment.  It comes in 4 sections (each section flat packed) on wheels and when clipped together creates the unique CrossFrame shape.  This gives access to 4 private working spaces for meetings, social gatherings or simply a place to relax with a book.

I wanted to focus on simplicity, each section is made from solid ash poles, a 15cm diameter that is inserted into specifically molded caps at either end and on the base of the first shelf.

A simple screw here and there will add extra stability.

The base shelf will host the small stools, 1 large and 2 small.  With the stools, simple is best too and they must be light so I have designed them in plastic, great for durability and of course, there is also the option to add more colour and texture by using a commercial grade fabric – I have used Kvdrat in the model.  When not in use, the stools can be stored here

The top two shelves are for book storage, plants and other small artifacts,  made from MDF, they can be painted in many different colours and for stability will contain a centre divider on the bottom two sections.

CrossFrame is designed to be flat packed with stools seperate, simple to construct, practical to use and beautiful to look at.  Ideally, all components can be adjusted to create a personalised aesthetic, for example, you could include solid poles in a colour of your choice, different colour caps etc.  The stools can be personalised and the beauty is you can create as many layouts possible by separating each piece to reconfigure. It’s up to you.
